Jazz has been in our family for over 10 years and is in her twenties. We are unsure of her origin and early life. When Mal first met her, she had been bought from a dealer by a riding school. But she didn’t adapt well to being ridden by lots of different people and learners. However, at the suggestion of the proprietor, when Mal started to take care of her on a one-to-one basis, she started to flourish. Together, after a period of getting to know each other, Jazz and Mal became a formidable combination at competitions, winning many show-jumping and working hunter titles. Jazz loves hunting and cross-country. Now she still goes out and about to fun rides, but is keen on her equine therapy work as a less physically intensive way to be productive in her later years. She is the senior member of our equine team, with the wisdom and experience to match. In particular, Jazz is attuned to people who are anxious or in pain.
